So you’ve made the decision you’d like a career in teaching. All that remains is for you to complete your application. You will need to apply for the appropriate programme through the DFE Apply for Teacher Training website.

References

You’ll need to supply the names of two referees. Please note, you can’t use family or friends, partners or ex-partners as referees. DFE APPLY will let you know when they’ve received your references, which means your application can then be sent to the training provider. We reserve the right to apply for additional references when we receive your application.

Personal Statement

Your personal statement will be used for all your applications. This needs to reflect the qualities we’re looking for, including details of your potential to teach and what you think you will bring to the profession.

Once you have an account with the DfE (Department for Education), they provide a free of charge advisor who can help you with your application and interview preparation.
